Application: Air stripping involves the mass transfer of volatile chemicals (VOCs) dissolved in water from water phase to air phase. A multi-stage diffused-aeration stripper is a vessel separated into compartments containing air diffusers located near the bottom of each compartment. The contaminated water to be air stripped enters the top of the first compartment of the vessel and slowly flows through the remaining aeration compartments. Once the groundwater has collected in the final compartment, it is discharged to other water-treatment modules or to a drain. Transfer of the VOCs from water to air occurs as the bubbles rise through the water. Air generated from a process blower is piped to the diffusers, rises through the water and is discharged through an exhaust port in the vessel lid.
Construction: The standard ADS-Series multi-stage diffused-air strippers can be fabricated from carbon steel, stainless
steel or marine-grade aluminum. The design of the unit allows for easy cleaning. There are no trays to lift and remove for
maintenance: simply remove the cover to gain access to diffused-aeration compartments and begin cleaning. The units shallow
design allows for influent gravity drain from almost any upstream process.
Air stripper modeling available for optimization of the overall removal efficiency of the inlet VOCs. The unit can be purchased
individually or it can be incorporated into one of our custom, turn-key water-treatment systems.
